Celtic Druids' Year, The
The Druids were the priests, judges, and diplomats in the complex ancient culture of the Celts. The Celtic society in which they existed is a matter of historical record, both archaeologically and from the writings of the ancient Greeks and Romans, who held them in unusually high regard. However, classical texts, such as Pliny's famous account of the Druidic mistletoe ritual, contain much implausible detail and have to be viewed with considerable caution. There is, therefore, a need to look in detail at the real basis for Celtic culture and the Druids' religion, a need now met in this superbly researched and highly readable book. This wonderful hardcover book is in very fine, previously loved condition, includes its original dust jacket, and is free of rips, stains, and markings.
